Sixth District State Representative Chris Freeland has been recognized by the Kentucky League of Cities for his legislative efforts supporting local communities.

The KLC recently presented Rep. Freeland with a 2025 ‘Friend of Kentucky Cities’ award for his work in the legislative session.

KLC officials said Rep. Freeland sponsored House Bill 555, an initiative aimed at assisting smaller cities that have difficulty finding certified public accountants for annual audits. They noted the legislation will solve a significant issue for many cities while still ensuring timely reporting and review of public funds.

Rep. Freeland, a native of Benton, has been a member of the Kentucky House of Representatives since January 2019 and serves the counties of Lyon, Marshall, and McCracken.
