Donna Holmes passed away at the age of 80 on November 12, 2025. She was born in Buffalo, NY, on January 28, 1945, and passed away November 12, 2025, at her home in Eddyville.
Donna is survived by her husband of 62 years, Edward Holmes, with whom she built a life filled with joy and devotion. Their daughter, Susan Holmes of Marietta, Georgia, her sister, Barbara Mitchell of Florida, and the numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews shared her life.
Donna was preceded in death by her mother, Lorraine Ann Zimmer Mutter; her father, William Mutter; and son, William Holmes, and daughter Jennifer Bettis.
As a homemaker, Donna took great pride in creating a warm and welcoming space for all who entered her home. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life like fishing, playing cards, cooking, and tending to her garden. Anyone who knew Donna could attest to her green thumb and the beautiful flowers that bloomed under her care. Her kitchen was filled with the aroma of her famous dishes.
Donna was a fan of “Wheel of Fortune,” where her keen intellect and sharp wit shone through as she solved puzzles alongside contestants. Her faith played a role in her life; as a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, she lived her beliefs through acts of kindness and compassion.
A loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, whose generous spirit and kindred soul left sweet memories on those fortunate enough to have known her.
There will be no services at this time. Lakeland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
