Caldwell County’s Animal Shelter Director and Animal Control Officer, Kevin Lane, has announced he will be stepping down from his position.

Lane shared on social media that his decision came after “much reluctance and meditation this week,” and noted he informed Caldwell County Judge Executive Kota Young of his two-week notice on Friday.

Lane also expressed in the post that serving Caldwell County in these roles “has been the honor of a lifetime,” and he plans to continue his close working relationship with Safe Haven KY and Anne Banister.

WPKY’s News Edge contacted Lane for a statement regarding his resignation, but he declined to comment.

The Caldwell County Fiscal Court approved the hiring of Lane as the Animal Shelter Director at its February 13, 2024, meeting from a group of four applicants. The decision was made following the passing of Tom Ward in January of last year, who had served in the position for several years.

During his tenure as shelter director, Lane has implemented numerous upgrades and improvements at the facility.

According to Lane, his last day in the position will be November 22.
