The Caldwell County Grand Jury has handed down a number of indictments this month, with charges ranging from drug trafficking to stolen firearms and evading police.

A true bill was returned on Shannon Lane, of Princeton, on charges of tampering with physical evidence, receiving stolen property – a firearm, and trafficking in marijuana, less than 8 ounces, firearm enhanced.

Lane was arrested on September 2 after Princeton Police said they received a tip about a stolen handgun seen at a home near the 800 block of Hopkinsville Street. According to detectives, Lane admitted moving the gun from the house to her vehicle, which was recovered by law enforcement. Police said they confirmed the gun was stolen during a series of vehicle thefts in the Country Club area on January 31.

Detectives said during a consensual search of Lane’s home for more stolen property, they found another handgun, approximately 134 grams of marijuana in five plastic bags, and several packaged marijuana vapes.

The grand jury indicted Lynn Wilson, of Princeton, on charges of alcohol intoxication and being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun.

Wilson was arrested shortly after 2:35 on the morning of August 25th after Princeton Police said officers responded to a report of a man walking in the road with a handgun near Cave and Calvert streets.

Matthew Daniel Patton, of Fredonia, was indicted on charges of careless driving and second-degree fleeing or evading police.

Patton is accused of fleeing from a Caldwell County Sheriff’s deputy who attempted a traffic stop after seeing him illegally pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone on Farmersville Road. Authorities said the chase continued onto West Ford Road, reaching speeds over 90 miles per hour, before Patton eventually stopped and was taken into custody.

The grand jury also returned a no true bill on Patton after considering charges of failing to maintain required insurance, no or expired registration plate, and no operator’s license, resulting in those offenses being dismissed.
