Caldwell County Public Schools Assistant Superintendent Malissa Thomas recently spoke to the Princeton Rotary Club, sharing her personal journey, her passion for education, and how the district’s goals align with Rotary’s mission of service and leadership.
Thomas, a Cadiz native and Caldwell County High School graduate, went on to play basketball at the University of Memphis. She said she’s grateful for all Caldwell County has given her, and believes her journey is a prime example of “education being a great equalizer.” She further explained that we’re blessed to live in a country where everyone has the chance for an education that can open doors.

According to Bush, her top priority as assistant superintendent is supporting Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Roach’s vision for the schools, which is similar to Rotary’s mission.
click to download audioShe also shared and discussed the district’s “What is My Impact” initiative, which stands for innovation, meaning, purpose, academic excellence, community engagement, and technological footprint.
Thomas highlighted her additional duties and praised the staff for their dedication.

click to download audioShe also spoke about the ongoing “teacher crisis” in Caldwell County, emphasizing the need to make the district more appealing for educators in order to draw teachers to Caldwell over neighboring areas.
Thomas, who was named assistant superintendent in July, is married to Princeton Mayor Brock Thomas, and they have five children.
