Principal Tim Bush Highlights Caldwell Regional Career Center’s Impact

Principal Tim Bush of the Caldwell Regional Career Center recently provided the school board with an update on career and technical education statistics.

After the board heard testimonials from two students about their experiences at the Career Center, Bush began by sharing state and national statistics on Career and Technical Education (CTE).

click to download audioBush added that at a conference he attended this summer, it was reported there are 7 million unfilled trade-related jobs—a number he believes will not change anytime soon.

He also outlined the state requirements to become a CTE concentrator or completer, along with graduation statistics for these students.

He also noted that CTE completers have higher employment rates and earn higher wages.

click to download audioAccording to Bush, more than 370 students from five districts are enrolled at the Career Center.

click to download audioHe said students at the Caldwell Regional Career Center have already completed dozens of school and community projects this year, with many more planned for next year.

Bush noted that moving from the traditional high school setting to career and technical education has been a “whirlwind” but rewarding, with students working hard.

He concluded his report by sharing with the Board the guidance he offers students about “real-world work.”
