Caldwell PDB Picks Architect for Judicial Center Project

The Caldwell County Project Development Board took another key step toward a new judicial center by selecting an architect for the project.

During Monday’s meeting, Board Chair and Judge-Executive Kota Young said they interviewed three architectural engineering firms and awarded the contract to Sherman Carter Barnhart Architects.

Young added that the Board also discussed the next steps.

click to download audioThe Kentucky General Assembly approved the new state-of-the-art judicial center project as part of the Judicial Branch’s biennial budget for 2024 to 2026. Although Caldwell County will own the building, construction and maintenance expenses will be covered by the Administrative Office of the Courts using funds from the Judicial Branch’s budget. The project is expected to cost $33.1 million, with the state covering the full amount through annual debt service payments of up to $2.8 million.
