It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of beloved mother and grandmother Flora Loyce Martin, affectionately known as Oie on Saturday, December 6, 2025. Loyce passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Frankfort Regional Medical Center after suffering a stroke. Born in Providence, KY on January 29, 1934, Loyce was the daughter of Jesse R and Annie D Blackwell. Loyce was the wife of late Wallace (Mutt) Martin.
In addition to her parents, Loyce was proceeded in death by her husband Wallace (Mutt) Martin, and her siblings, Louise Rowland, Faye Barnes, Jo Dahl, Darryl Blackwell, Thomas Blackwell, Morris Blackwell, and A.B. Blackwell.
Loyce started working in her early years for Princeton Hosiery Mill and Arvins. She then attended Paducah School of Cosmology where she became a beautician for several years. It wasn’t until a little later in life that she went to work for Kentucky Transportation Cabinet from which she retired. She was of faithful member of Second Baptist Church. Loyce spent her later years by endlessly giving of herself serving and taking care of others in many ways. Cooking was her love language, and she often expressed her love through this. Everyone who she cared for or sat at her table felt welcomed and cared for.
Loyce had quite a special bond and enjoyed spending time with her twin sister Joyce also known as her Ralph or Mickey. They were known in Princeton as The twins. They carried the reputation of loving, kindhearted, and quite feisty. To know them was to love them. Their hearts were filled with love for everyone, and it showed through their many actions.
Loyce is survived by her loving daughter, Cynthia Martin Smith (Dave) of Lawrenceburg. Two Stepchildren, Harold W Martin of Michigan, and Peggy S Golliher of Kissimmee, Florida. Grandchildren, Heath Martin, Ashley (Kyle) Kratzer, and Charles Wallace (Jacquelyn) Toll. Step granddaughters, Stephanie (Drake) Mondelli, Heidi Martin of Michigan, and Jill (Ray) Byerly of Florida. Great grandchildren, Shaina Martin (Marquee), Dawson, Ryan Martin, Mayson, Riley, Sophie, Emma, Beckett, and Cade Toll. Jaxon, Kayson, and Charlee Kay Kratzer. Great Great grandchildren, Karter and Kallie Miller and Miles Douglas Martin.
We would like to extend special thanks to Riley, her great-granddaughter, for her personal time and care for her Oie, along with her special caregivers Lynn and Penny. In addition we would like to thank Bluegrass Care Navigators Hospice Team and the Fourth floor nursing staff at FRMC.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Morgan’s Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Sunday, December 14, 2025 at Morgan’s Funeral Home with Bro. Noal Cotton officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Springs Cemetery.
