William L. “Bill” Holloway, age 95, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 12, 2025, at Rivers Bend Retirement Community in Kuttawa, Kentucky. He was born on March 22, 1930, in the Friendship Community of Caldwell County.
Caldwell County lost an honorable citizen in Bill. He was a beloved husband, father, stepfather, brother, friend to all and a Kentucky Colonel. But most of all he was a faithful Christian.
Bill was a Navy Veteran proudly serving his country in the Navy for two stints from 1947 to 1954. He worked for South Central Bell for 32 years before retiring. Then he continued doing contract work for them several years maintaining their buildings and property. In addition to serving his country and working with the phone company, Bill maintained a 130-acre farm raising cattle, pigs, and horses. He was certified as an Artificial Insemination Technician, so he could raise several different exotic breeds of cattle. In 1975, he decided to sell his farm, livestock, equipment and move to town. That is when he began expanding his rental properties, At one time he had 20+ houses that he rented. Bill was also a certified heating & cooling technician, enabling him to perform repairs to his rental property and the phone company’s buildings. He was a hard-working man, never shying away from a difficult task until his health began to decline.
He liked to collect rocks. For his 80th birthday he was greeted with a surprise birthday party and everyone was asked to bring a rock of special significance, shape or color. Every time he or family member would travel, a rock from their visit would find its way back into Bill’s collection.
Mr Holloway was a longtime member of Northside Baptist Church, serving in several different capacities. He was instrumental in the construction of the educational building and new sanctuary. He taught Sunday School for several years and loved to sing and enjoyed doing so even to his last days at Rivers Bend.
Bill was always eager to lend a helping hand to anyone at any time. His eagerness to help others was evident as his life was a true testament of faith and service to family, church, friends and community.
