Rosie Brown, 91, of Des Plaines, Illinois, passed on December, 2, 2025, at Asbury Court Supportive and Independent Living in Des Plaines.
She was born on March 24, 1934, in Lyon County, Kentucky, to her late parents, Dixie and Anna Gray Oliver. Rosie’s life was shaped by her warm spirit and the many places she called home. Raised in Lyon County, Kentucky, she later lived in Tennessee and spent cherished years in Michigan while her husband worked at the University of Michigan, one of her favorite chapters in life. Eventually settling near Southern Illinois University, she worked as a secretary supporting international students. She and her husband opened their home with joy, welcoming students from around the world and forming friendships that lasted a lifetime.
Rosie’s kindness extended to every corner of her life. She loved animals, especially her beloved poodles, and she absolutely adored her three great-grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and happiness. Known for her helpful, caring nature, she was wonderfully social and rarely missed a luncheon with her circle of friends.
She is survived by her sister, Betty Ann Ladd of Hopkinsville; granddaughter, Carolyn Rose Crespo of Chicago, IL; three great-grandchildren, Mayah, Michael and Matthew.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Linz Carol Brown; daughter, Vicki Leny; two sisters, Ella Marie Wright, Christine Oliver; two brothers, Charles Oliver and Roy Oliver.
Private services were held. Burial will take place in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Princeton, Kentucky, with Morgan’s Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
