Gas prices in west central Kentucky are down 10 cents this week, averaging $2.47 per gallon, according to the most recent AAA East Central Gas Prices Report.
Regionally, prices average about $2.51 in Bowling Green, $2.45 in Paducah, $2.38 in Owensboro, $2.47 in Elizabethtown, and $2.54 in Louisville.
Nationwide, drivers are also seeing relief at the pump. The national average fell four cents over the past week to $2.91, which remains as the lowest price in four years. Prices have stayed below $3 since early December and are cheaper than last holiday season, when gas averaged about $3.04.
AAA says increased gasoline demand and higher supplies are helping keep prices low, even as holiday travel ramps, and crude oil prices edged slightly higher this week, but U.S. oil inventories remain below the five-year average.
Kentucky remains among the states with the lowest gas prices in the nation. Meanwhile, the average cost to charge an electric vehicle at a public station held steady at 38 cents per kilowatt hour.
