County races for jailer and District 4 magistrate in Caldwell County are drawing more contenders as new candidates file to appear on the 2026 election ballot.
Republican candidate Zakkary Taylor Eubanks filed paperwork with the Caldwell County Clerk’s Office on December 9 to run for jailer.
Eubanks posted on social media that he has served in several key roles within the Department of Corrections, including an Internal Affairs supervisor, Ta ransportation supervisor, overseen the Adjustment Procedure, and served as the CERT Team Commander. He said seven of those ten years have been in supervisory roles, giving him firsthand experience in leadership, accountability, and safety.
The Republican race for jailer also includes Jail Administrator Angela Cotton, who filed to run for the seat on November 26.
Meanwhile, in District 4, Matthew Lane filed as a Republican on December 18 to run for magistrate, along with Republican candidate Randy Jordan, who filed his paperwork with the Caldwell County Clerk’s Office on Monday, December 22. They join fellow Republican candidate Kevin Lane, who filed for the same seat on December 15.
The deadline for all candidates to file for the primary election is January 9, 2026. Voting in the primary is set for May 19, 2026.
