Amidst a growing number of candidates vying for Caldwell County’s District 4 magistrate seat, Kevin Lane has officially withdrawn his candidacy, citing concerns about a crowded field and the future of the district.
Lane announced on social media that, after much prayer, he decided to withdraw from the race in what he believes is the best interest of the 4th District. He noted the race for the magistrate seat was becoming “very crowded with potentially more candidates to file.” Lane added that he filed the appropriate paperwork with Caldwell County Clerk Jennifer Hale on Wednesday morning to withdraw his candidacy for the seat.
He went on to say his priority is the well-being of Caldwell County, and expressed concern that a crowded race could split the votes and keep the most qualified person from being elected.
With Lane stepping out of the race, two Republican candidates—Matthew Lane and Randy Jordan—remain on the May Primary Election ballot for District 4. Lane stated he will support and vote for Jordan as the next 4th District magistrate, describing him as a dedicated public servant to Princeton and Caldwell County, and expressing confidence that Jordan will be a valuable asset to the Caldwell County Fiscal Court.
The filing deadline for all Primary Election candidates is January 9, 2026, with the Primary set to take place on May 19, 2026.
