Authorities say an Illinois man was served a warrant Monday for failing to show up in court after he was indicted last year by a Caldwell County grand jury in a rape case.

According to Assistant Princeton Police Chief Shane Allison, 35-year-old Marion Brown of Wayne City was served a Caldwell County Bench Warrant at the local jail around 2:35 p.m. Monday. He says Brown was recently picked up by law enforcement in Illinois and returned to Princeton after failing to appear in Caldwell Circuit Court on charges of second-degree rape and first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor.

Brown was indicted by the Caldwell County Grand Jury in May 2024. A report from Princeton Police stated that the rape charge involved a victim between 14 and 18 years old, with the other charge involving a victim under 16.

Brown was lodged in the Caldwell County Jail.
