A Princeton teenager is facing charges in connection with an explosion that rocked several communities over the weekend.
Lyon County Sheriff Brent White reports that law enforcement and dispatch received multiple calls around 7:45 p.m. Saturday after residents in the Eddy Creek and Saratoga communities heard and felt a loud explosion.
He says deputies responded to the area and located the site of the explosion on US Army Corps of Engineers federal property off Eddy Creek Road. At the scene, deputies reportedly found a large crater and collected multiple pieces of evidence.
According to Sheriff White, deputies determined that a large quantity of a binary and improvised explosive combination, including a mixture of over 100 pounds of aluminum powder with ammonium nitrate, an additional fuel source, and a rifle were likely used.
He says Lyon County Sheriff’s deputies,, with assistance from the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office, conducted an investigation that led to the identification and location of 19-year-old Bo Winters at a residence in Caldwell County.
Sheriff White says Winters was charged with multiple offenses, including criminal mischief, criminal littering, and disorderly conduct. He was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
Sheriff White indicates that additional charges are pending against other identified individuals involved in the incident.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
