Joseph Z. “Joe” Martin, age 52, of Fredonia, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025, at Baptist Health of Paducah. He was born in Marion, Kentucky, on May 22, 1973, to the late Kenneth Martin and Peggy Bland.
Joe began working as a teenager and continued throughout his whole life. He retired from the Department of Corrections in 2018, having held many positions throughout his tenure. He began his career as a correctional officer and advanced through the ranks as a correctional sergeant, lieutenant, internal affairs officer, administrative specialist, and eventually program administrator. After retirement, Joe continued his commitment to work and was employed most recently as a security officer at West Lake Chemical in Calvert City, Kentucky.
Joe’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family. Whenever he was away from work, he devoted his time to his wife and children. His passing leaves a profound sadness in the lives of those who loved him, as they had looked forward to many more years together.
Joe is lovingly remembered by his wife of 27 years, Tina Martin. In addition, he is survived by his mother, Peggy Bland of Golconda, Illinois, and three brothers: James Martin of Eddyville, Kentucky; Ken Martin and his wife Amanda of Herod, Illinois; and David Martin of Marion, Kentucky.
