
Superintendent Lenny Whalen has announced that Dawson Springs Independent Schools will dismiss early on Wednesday so students and staff can attend the funeral of Aden McKinney, who died in a hunting accident over the weekend.
Whalen says schools will be released and buses will run at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. He added that all students will be served lunch before dismissal.
Funeral services for McKinney will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Beshear Funeral Home, with visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, and beginning at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday.
The 17-year-old junior at Dawson Springs High School died Saturday morning at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Seirra and James Miller of Crofton; his father and stepmother, Ernest and Jennifer McKinney of Charleston; two brothers: Alex and Asher; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and several other relatives.
