Authorities have charged a Fredonia teenager in connection with an explosion in Lyon County last month that was heard and felt in several communities around the area.
Lyon County Sheriff Brent White says around 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 28th, a 17-year-old juvenile was charged with criminal mischief, criminal littering, and disorderly conduct in connection with the December 27th explosion incident off Eddy Creek Road.
He says the juvenile voluntarily turned themself in at the Sheriff’s Office, accompanied by their parents. After being processed, the teenager was released to their parents’ custody, as directed by the District Court.
Sheriff White previously reported that 19-year-old Bo Winters of Princeton was arrested and charged with criminal mischief, criminal littering, and disorderly conduct in connection with the explosion.
According to Sheriff White, deputies determined during the investigation that a large quantity of a binary and improvised explosive combination, including a mixture of over 100 pounds of aluminum powder with ammonium nitrate, an additional fuel source, and a rifle were likely used.
