Virginia Nell Johnson, age 80, formerly of Princeton, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2026, at The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence in Russell, Kentucky.
Born in Caldwell County in 1945, Virginia began her career as a bookkeeper at Farmers Bank, where she later retired after 34 years as Vice President. She was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church and was actively involved in several church groups and Bible studies.
Virginia enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, but above all, she cherished spending time with her grandchildren—whether visiting them in person or spending hours with them on FaceTime. They were truly the joy of her life.
Virginia Nell Johnson is survived by her daughter, Shayna (Chris) Langston of Lexington, KY; her son, Michael “Mike” (Malisha) Johnson of Ashland, KY; one sister, Donra Gilkey of Princeton; three grandchildren, Drew Langston, Seth Langston, and Kyle Johnson; as well as several nieces and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James “Jim” Johnson, and her parents, Larue Newsom and Mary Bell Newsom.
A memorial visitation for Virginia Nell Johnson will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Morgan’s Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
