Ventura Terrill Samuel, age 55, of Princeton, affectionately known as “Ven,” was born on August 29, 1970, in Cook County, Illinois. He departed this world on January 6, 2026, at Baptist Health Paducah, surrounded by his loved ones.
Ventura was a man of many interests and a personality that left an impression on those who knew him. He had a genuine love for basketball and baseball, and some of his most meaningful moments were spent bonding with his boys over these sports—watching games, talking plays, and sharing the excitement together. He also enjoyed cooking and grilling, often doing so while watching a game, listening to the latest music, and catching up with family and friends.
Ventura was a self-employed barber who took great pride in his craft. He formed many relationships through his work and made it a point to ensure that anyone who sat in his chair not only looked good, but felt good as well. In addition to his work, he had an appreciation for cars of all kinds, from classic models to the newest designs, and could often be found admiring them or talking about what he liked most. He was truly someone you had to know—everyone who crossed paths with him has a story. We loved him, and he will be deeply missed.
Ventura is survived by his partner of 29 years, Holly McClelland, who stood by his side through various seasons of life. He leaves behind his beloved sons, Travion Samuel (Mashayla) and Xzaydriyen “Zay” Samuel, both of Princeton, as well as his cherished daughters, Jamie Polo (Donald) and Brianna Walls (Jemarquis Wright), both of Chicago, Ashley Samuel (Cameron Hall) of Princeton, Aliya Samuel (Megan) of Bowling Green, and Araigiana Samuel of Princeton. He also adored his grandchildren, Mia Mays, D’On Polo, Cayden Hall, Capri Hall, Logan Gordon, and Romel Banks.
Ventura shared a special bond with his brother, Alexis “Pat” Samuel of Princeton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie James and Mattie Lumeral Samuel, along with his brothers, Stacy Samuel and Willie James Samuel Jr., and his sister, Shunta Seals. Each of these individuals played a significant role in his life.
Ventura will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A celebration of life will be thrown in his honor. Ventura’s children will be reaching out to friends and family regarding arrangements.
Goodman Funeral Home is honored to serve the Samuel family.
