UPDATE: Cave-in-Rock Ferry Open

The Cave-in-Rock Ferry resumed service at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, January 17, after closing earlier in the day due to high winds.

INITIAL STORY:

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has announced that the Cave-in-Rock Ferry closed around noon Saturday, January 17, due to high winds.

The ferry will stay closed until weather conditions improve and it is safe to operate again.

Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes until further notice.

The Cave-In-Rock Ferry provides a crossing over the Ohio River, linking Kentucky Highway 91 in Crittenden County, Kentucky, with Illinois Route 1 in Hardin County, Illinois.
