Exciting news on new business developments, major investments, and ongoing projects was shared during Tuesday night’s Princeton City Council meeting.
Mayor Brock Thomas invited Judge-Executive Kota Young to share the exciting news from earlier in the day about the newly acquired Better For Butchery Masonic Drive Processing Facility, a USDA-backed center for meat processing, packaging, cold storage, and fulfillment.
Young shared details about what led up to the acquisition of Porter Road Meats, and that the USDA Rural Development Director for Kentucky, Travis Burton, was in Princeton Tuesday marking the public launch of the Better For Butchery operations center. He added that it’s a very exciting time and this is a great industrial partner, calling it a business partner that is “cutting-edge and seen as a model for replication across the country.”
He said the service offered by Better For Butchery is a “great opportunity” for local farmers and ranchers.

Young said this is another great investment in the community and expressed his appreciation to the USDA and Burton for their collaboration to bring the project to completion.
In addition, Planning and Zoning Administrator Jenny Clark said she was excited to announce that permits and addresses have been issued for two new tenants at Walmart.
click to download audioClark also noted that she has issued one permit for a new single-family home and is currently working with two business owners to obtain a variance to purchase property for a new business.
In new business, with the installation of a new automated phone system at City Hall, the Council unanimously declared the old 20-year-old phones and phone system as surplus.
The Council also unanimously approved the selection of DGA Public Service Accountants in Hopkinsville for the Princeton Electric Plant Board.
