A Hopkins County man was arrested Monday after deputies searching for him on active warrants reportedly found meth, firearms, and evidence of drug trafficking.
According to the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office, deputies attempted to arrest 37-year-old Justin Williams of White Plains at his home on South Church Street around 4:30 p.m. Monday due to two active warrants. As deputies arrived, they said Williams got out of a vehicle and ran toward Horseshoe Loop but was captured after a brief foot pursuit.
During the search of Williams, deputies said they found a large baggie of suspected methamphetamine and two capped syringes in his inner coat pocket. Deputies reported they also found firearms, along with drug paraphernalia and ledgers indicating drug transactions in his vehicle.
Williams, who deputies said is a convicted felon, was taken into custody, with deputies reportedly seizing approximately 23 grams of meth.
Williams was charged with trafficking meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, fleeing or evading police, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. He was lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
