Caldwell County has avoided major issues following Friday night’s snowfall, but additional winter weather is expected from Saturday night into Sunday evening.

In a mid-morning update to WPKY’s News Edge, Emergency Management Director Joey McCaslin said there was one vehicle accident overnight Friday with no injuries and no power outages.

As of 4:00 p.m, Saturday,  McCaslin said that the situation remains unchanged, with no accidents reported and no power outages.

He says the Caldwell County Courthouse will continue to serve as a warming shelter through Monday morning, with a warming shelter in Fredonia available if needed.

More wintry precipitation is expected Saturday night through Sunday evening, with the bitterly cold temperatures continuing into next week, according to the Lead Forecaster Justin Gibbs with the National Weather Service in Paducah.

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for Western Kentucky through 6 p.m. Sunday.

Roads are slick and hazardous and will deteriorate overnight as the temperature falls and more winter weather moves across Western Kentucky. If you don’t have to be out on the roads, stay at home. If you do need to travel, slow down and use extreme caution.
