James “Chris” Owen, age 58, of Princeton, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2026, suddenly at Caldwell Medical Center.
Chris was born September 25, 1967, to Thomas H. “Tom” Owen, Jr. of Eddyville and the late Sandra Kay Hungerford Tyrie. He was a musician, playing guitar and keyboards; he had a good understanding of music and a good singing voice. He was an avid reader and held strong political opinions. Chris was a graduate of Caldwell County High School and attended Western Kentucky University. He and his stepfather, Robert “Buttermilk” Tyrie, had a good relationship and worked together for several years.
In addition to his father and step-father, he is survived by his sister, Vanessa Dallas of Paducah; brother, Timmy Lee Owen of Ohio; aunt, Dianna Jones of Calvert City, and Desirree Owen-Toy of Ballard County.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thomas H., Sr., and Geneva Holsapple Owen, Clarence and Laveta James Hungerford; uncles, Larry Hungerford and Dennis Hungerford; and aunt, Donna Sue Owen Martin.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Morgan’s Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 3, 202,6 at Morgan’s Funeral Home with Rev. Steve McVay officiating. Burial will follow at Meeks Cemetery in Caldwell County.
