Betty Pallai, age 98, of Eddyville, formerly of Taylorville, IL, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2026, at Riversbend Retirement Community.
Betty was born July 28, 1927 to the late Chester Earl and Miranda Mae Moore Montgomery. She was a beloved woman whose life was filled with music, laughter, and deep love for her family. She found joy on the water, especially when fishing for salmon, and her beautiful voice was a cherished part of the church choir. Betty loved to dance and was skilled in both square and ballroom dancing, always bringing energy and grace to the floor. Known for her feisty spirit, especially during a lively game of cards, she lived with passion and heart. She taught her whole family how to cook and was a fabulous baker of pies and cookies. Betty also enjoyed gardening in her spare time. Above all else, Betty loved her family deeply, holding them at the center of her life and her greatest joy.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Chris Richards of Eddyville; adored grandchildren, Mariah (Rickey) Roberts, Travis (Dana) Richards, Joe Lee (Carrie) Pallai, and Sean (Fernanda) Pallai; several great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom she loved deeply.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Frank Pallai; son, Joe Pallai.
A memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 11:30 am Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Eddyville Methodist Church.
