WPKY’s sports guru and Your Sports Edge reporter Todd Griffin is about to become the headline instead of the byline next Tuesday, as Caldwell County High School Athletics honors him with a special tribute during halftime of the boys basketball game.
Caldwell County Athletic Director Jeff Riley surprised Griffin with the announcement live on The Sideline Report Thursday morning.
After the announcement, Riley introduced four Caldwell County High School athletes—soccer player Aliyah Towns, volleyball and tennis player Troy Freeman, golf and baseball player Scott Cortner, and football and basketball player Jack Roach—all of whom have been interviewed by Griffin over the past few years. This time, the tables were turned as the student-athletes put Griffin in the hot seat, asking him about his career as a sports reporter, including how long he has reported on high school athletics.
They also asked Griffin what inspired him to become a sports reporter.
Griffin was quizzed about his favorite University of Kentucky athlete and St. Louis Cardinals player and why, the top athlete he’s ever covered, and what he enjoys most about being a sports reporter.
The student-athletes continued with more questions about Griffin’s career and experiences in sports, before Riley wrapped up by expressing his appreciation for all Griffin has contributed to Caldwell County athletics.
Once again, Todd Griffin will be honored at halftime during the Caldwell County High School boys basketball game on Tuesday, November 10th.
