Thomas E. Ausenbaugh, age 65 of Kuttawa, born on March 27, 1959, in Indiana, passed away peacefully at his residence on February 16, 2026. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication and love, having retired from Smith Contracting after a remarkable 30-year career. Additionally, he retired from the Labor Union Hall and the Operators Union Hall, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his colleagues.
Thomas, fondly remembered by his family and friends, cherished his time spent with his beloved dogs, most especially Moe. He had a deep appreciation for nature, and in his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors, activities that brought him immense joy and fulfillment.
Among his proudest accomplishments, Thomas cherished the memories made during a memorable trip to Alaska with his wife, Patience Ausenbaugh, who has since passed. Their shared experiences and travels shaped the foundation of his happy memories.
Thomas is survived by his son, Aaron Ausenbaugh and his wife, Lindsey, of Eddyville; his stepbrothers, Randy Armstrong and his wife, Sandy, of Eddyville, Jeff Armstrong and his wife, Sharon, of San Luis, California, and Dwight Armstrong and his wife, Judy, of Raleigh, North Carolina; his sister, Vickie Knoth of Paducah; and his half-sister, Valorie Link and her husband, Shawn, of Slaughters.
He was preceded in death by his father, Silas Ausenbaugh, as well as his mother and step-dad, Earlene and Frankie Armstrong; his spouse, Patience Ausenbaugh; and his younger step-brother, Steve Armstrong.
Thomas will be remembered not just for his professionalism and dedication in his career, but also for the love he had for his family, his loyal companionship with his pets, and his adventurous spirit. His warmth and kindness have left an indelible mark on those he leaves behind.
