Authorities are alerting residents to a recurring phone scam in which callers falsely claim to be with the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office and threaten arrest over missed jury duty.
The scammer claims to be Marshall Goodwin from the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office, but officials confirm that no one by that name works there.
Officials also emphasize that the sheriff’s office will not call to inform you about missing jury duty or to notify you of a warrant.
If you receive such a call, hang up immediately, block the number, and report it to the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office if possible by clicking here. According to the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office, this is the only way they can get these numbers into a database.
Authorities say never share any personal information over the phone, always verify who you’re speaking with, and ask for their name and number—scammers will usually hang up. They encourage residents to block suspicious calls and remain alert to potential scams.
