Beloved Mother and Grandmother, Wanda June Anderson Town, age 87, of Kuttawa, KY. passed away March 7, 2026, with her family at her side.
Born March 22, 1938, in Kuttawa, KY, to Roy and Mae Anderson, June graduated from Lyon County High School in 1956 and earned her teaching degree from Murray State University in 1967.
She taught third grade and special education for 35 years. She was passionate about her students and loved teaching every day.
June married Robert (Bobby)Town in 1953, and together they raised 2 children. She loved her church (Mt. Zion Baptist). She loved history and did guided tours at Rose Hill Museum in Eddyville Ky. She was a member of her Homemakers club and an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan. June was a talented piano player and loved her vacations to Florida with her love, Bobby. She expressed her love through cooking, always happiest when her kitchen was full and her family gathered around the table.
June is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Mae Anderson; Husband, Robert Town (Bobby); Granddaughter, Melanie Borden; and daughter-in-law, Sharon Sanderson Town.
June is survived by her son, Doug Town of Paducah; Daughter, Sherrie Borden of O’Fallon, IL, Granddaughter, Jessica (Jared) Lamm; Grandson, Jason Town; Two Great-Grandsons, Joseph and Joshua; Two Great-Granddaughters, Audrey and Halle;
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Lakeland Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Lakeland Funeral Home with Bro. Aaron Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Rolling Hills Cemetery.
