Gerald “Jerry” Vickrey passed away on March 12, 2026, at his home in Eddyville, at the age of 82. He was born on June 10, 1943, in Lyon County to his late parents Leslie and Maxine Atwood Vickrey in Lyon County, KY.
Jerry was a skilled auto body repairman whose hands were as adept at restoring cars as they were at getting life from the soil of his beloved vegetable garden. His detail to repairing tractors, mowers, and cars was applied to every aspect of his life. Jerry’s love for coon hunting, playing the guitar, and spending time with his family made his life richer.
A devoted member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses community in Blackhawk, KY, Jerry’s faith was a source of strength and comfort to him.
Jerry’s legacy is carried on by his loving family, including his daughters, Janet (Gregg) Stafford of Eddyville, and Jennifer Sumner of Eddyville; his son, Jeff Vickrey of Fredonia, KY; his sisters, Catherine Cardin of Dawson Springs, KY, and Donna Knoth of Marion, KY; grandchildren, Haley Sumner, Colby East, Helen (Morgan) Vickrey, Justen DeRousse, Teriann (Mason) Kellams, Amber Stafford, Matt Stafford, and Jon (Johnna) Stafford; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in by his beloved wife of 60 years, Judy Scott Vickrey; his sisters, Linda Marie Vickrey and Joyce Sinclair; and his brothers, Larry, Billy, Jim, Dan, and Joe Vickrey.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Morgan’s Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Princeton Memorial Gardens with Eddy Miniard officiating.
