A Kuttawa man and woman are facing charges after deputies were sent to a stabbing complaint in Lyon County last week.

According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a stabbing report on Wilderness Road, south of Suwanee, around 7:18 p.m. Thursday. Authorities say the investigation revealed that 39-year-old John Huddleston and 48-year-old Wendy Garnett were involved in a disturbance while intoxicated. Deputies report that Huddleston assaulted Garnett with his hands and fists and took her phone to prevent her from calling emergency services. They say he then left for his mother’s home nearby. Shortly after, Garnett reportedly armed herself with a knife and went to the same residence, where deputies said the two argued again, and Garnett used the knife on Huddleston before fleeing on foot.

Authorities say Lyon County EMS was called to the scene, and Huddleston was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Garnett was reportedly found later by Sheriff Brent White as she exited a wooded area and was detained without further incident.

Garnett was arrested on charges of second-degree assault and tampering with physical evidence. Huddleston was taken into custody after being released from the hospital and charged with fourth-degree assault related to domestic violence and interfering with communications. Both Garnett and Huddleston were lodged at Crittenden County Detention Center.

Authorities said they also discovered that Garnett was on supervised felony probation from the Marshall County Circuit Court, and now also faces a probation violation detainer with no bond.
