The Caldwell County Special Olympics Blue Team delivered another unforgettable performance on the court this weekend, capturing their second consecutive 1-A Division state basketball championship.
Coach Roy Gene Rogers explained that after winning the regional tournament in Bowling Green last month, the Blue Team learned they would face Madison County. He said they started strategizing after discovering their opponents featured two players over 6’5″. Rogers said that while Caldwell lacked height, he felt the team’s quickness and better physical conditioning set them apart from other athletes, and they could overcome their taller opponents.
