The Princeton City Council received updates on alcohol sales, water and utility projects, and airport improvements during its latest meeting.
Councilwoman Pat George, a member of the Princeton Water Commission, reported that several projects are currently in progress, including the replacement of water meters.
Along with the water commission update, Councilman Jim Joiner reported that the Princeton Electric Plant Board has received bids for new steel poles, which will be used to replace more than 60 existing wooden utility poles.
Joiner also provided an update from the Princeton-Caldwell County Airport Board.

Last week, the airport was closed for several hours while Palmer Engineering of Lexington carried out a state aviation runway test. Joiner stated this is the next step in the airport’s new runway and lighting project.
He added that they are proud of the new ten-unit t-hangar and noted that things are going well at the airport.
Also during the meeting, City Clerk Julie Poole reported that, with assistance from the deputy city clerk, a year-end Alcoholic Beverage Control report showed alcohol sales were slightly lower in 2025 than the previous year.
She added that Black Patch Grille, which recently reopened, is in the process of obtaining its alcohol license and is expected to have it within two weeks. She also noted that Walmart’s new package store, opening mid-summer, should boost alcohol sales revenue for this year.
