Caldwell County Sheriff Don Weedman visited “Coffee Talk” Friday and says scammers have shown up on cell phones all over the county, and as of this week, now “in person” on a porch in Caldwell County, taking it to a whole new level!
The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office received a call this week from a county resident stating someone claiming to be with the “Social Security Administration” came to her home. The Caldwell County Sheriff Facebook page listed the individual’s description as: “a white, bald, male, wearing jeans and a lanyard. He was driving a large, black SUV with “coal keeps the lights on” license plate. He was asked to leave and was very rude in responses. ”

He says if the web address doesn’t end in dot-gov (.gov), then it’s most likely not legitimate. Weedman urges residents to report the incidents. The Sheriff listed the Kentucky Attorney General’s office as your first stop when reporting.
