James Gray, 67, of Princeton

James Gray, age 67, of Princeton, passed away on March 26, 2026, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana.

He was a member of Bainbridge Grove and found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. James loved building things and took pride in creating with his hands. He was a self-employed carpenter. He especially treasured time spent with his family, and happiness came from being surrounded by those he loved most, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles.

James is survived by his daughter, Rachel Gray, and his son, Scotty, both of Princeton. He is also survived by his sister, Connie Martin; his brothers, Mike Gray and his wife, Regina, Ricky Gray, and Johnny Gray all of Princeton; his grandchildren, Haley and wife, Megan Zahnd, Sara Daugherty, A.J. Daugherty and wife, Becca, Braden Daugherty, Hadley Gray, and Ryker Gray; and his great-grandchildren, Hunter Bush, Kamden Bush, Cash Daugherty, Harper Zahnd, and Dakota Zahnd. He also leaves behind a very special best friend forever, Ladina Gray, along with several nieces and nephews. Others special to him were Kristi Rozwalka, Tilleigh and Taylynn Vilt, who called him Papaw.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Leola Gilkey Gray, and by his brothers, William Gray and Eddie Gray.

James will be remembered for his love of family, his appreciation for hard work, and the many ways he showed care for those around him. He lives on in the family he loved so deeply and in the memories shared by all who knew him.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Morgan’s Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m., April 2, 2026, at Morgan’s Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Faughn officiating. Burial will follow in the Eddy Creek Cemetery.
