Michael “Shane” Board, 55, of Princeton, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at his home.
He was born on June 24, 1970, in Princeton, Kentucky, to his parents, Mike and Sharon Faye Board. Shane lived a life marked by hard work, faith, and a genuine love for people. Known for his quick wit and easy humor, Shane brought laughter wherever he went and could lighten any room. He dedicated nearly a decade to CC Metals and Alloys in Calvert City before working as a bricklayer and in various construction roles. Around 2010, he surrendered to preach, becoming ordained in 2013. He served as pastor of Lewistown Christian Church and later Suwanee Furnace Baptist Church, where he shared his love of God with anyone willing to listen. Over the years, he also spent time working on a cattle farm and, for the last six years, found joy as a hunting guide for quail and pheasant at Winghaven Lodge in Providence.
A proud graduate of Caldwell County High School’s Class of 1988, Shane was a standout baseball player whose passion for the game carried into many years of coaching, including with Lyon County High School, Lyon County Middle School, the Tri-County Titans, and the Post 68 American Legion team. He was known for his athleticism and cherished many years on the field, playing softball with the P-Town Boys for over two decades, building friendships and memories that lasted a lifetime. Shane loved the outdoors, especially golf and fishing, and he was a devoted fan of the University of Kentucky and the Atlanta Braves. Shane also participated in the Emmaus Walk multiple times, reflecting his deep and enduring faith. He had a special place in his heart for his dogs, especially his beloved Gizmo, but above all else, Shane’s greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was the love he had for his two children.
Shane is survived by his daughter, Shayann Board (Bryant) Millikan of Nashville; son, Gabe Board of Bowling Green; brother, Kevin (Jennifer) Board of Princeton; niece, Tori (Bill) Schroeder of Reidland; nephew, Gavin Board of Murray; great-niece, Blair; great-nephew, Brooks; along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert “Mike” Board and Sharon Faye (Tosh) Board.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Morgan’s Funeral Home with Bro. David Brown and Bro. Mike Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in White Sulphur Cemetery.
