The Princeton Electric Plant Board is receiving national recognition for its commitment to safety. The utility has been awarded the American Public Power Association’s Safety Award of Excellence for 2025, earning the Platinum level—recognizing organizations with between 15,000 and nearly 30,000 worker-hours of exposure.
This national award highlights the Plant Board’s strong focus on safe operations and operational excellence.
In a written statement, Operations Superintendent Matt Hoard says the Princeton Electric Plant Board takes great pride in its commitment to safety. He says this award recognizes the work their team has put into creating a safety-first culture. He adds that they believe everyone deserves to feel safe at work and return home safely to their families every day.
The Safety Award of Excellence is awarded annually to public power utilities across the country, based on their records of incident-free operations, overall safety culture, and compliance with OSHA guidelines. The awards are ranked as diamond, platinum, or gold, according to worker-hours and safety records.
In all, 240 were honored this year, selected from more than 200 entries nationwide. Officials say these awards showcase a longstanding commitment to employee well-being in the public power sector.
The American Public Power Association has conducted the Safety Awards for more than 65 years and represents not-for-profit, community-owned utilities in around 2,000 towns and cities across the United States.
