After its annual winter break, Adsmore House and Gardens has reopened its doors, inviting the community to join in marking four decades as one of Princeton’s most cherished historic sites.
Wayne Yates of Adsmore House and Gardens shared his excitement at the Caldwell Connect meeting hosted by the Caldwell Chamber about a special milestone—the museum is celebrating its 40th year of opening its doors to the public as a historic house museum.
click to download audioYates explained that Adsmore House and Gardens closes each January through March due to slow winter business, using that time to complete needed repairs and get ready for the museum’s reopening.
Adsmore welcomed visitors back last week and will be open through the end of the year.
click to download audioHe shared that tours from April through June will feature special celebrations to mark this milestone year.
click to download audioYates added that in July and August, tours will spotlight the engagement and wedding of Selena Smith of Princeton and Governor John Eugene Osborne of Wyoming, followed by the Night Riders Tour and the Victorian Christmas Tour.
click to download audioHe also encouraged the community to support Adsmore by taking a tour, noting that the $10 admission helps fund the museum.
click to download audioYates also suggested supporting Adsmore by shopping for unique and exquisite items at its gift shop, spreading the word to visitors, and joining educational programs like Lunch and Learn or the Supper Club, both of which include meals and have restarted this month.
He also noted the community can lend a hand by volunteering for landscaping tasks. In addition, there is a log cabin that’s not original to the property, which they would like to have removed.
click to download audioHe went on to explain that if the log cabin is removed, they want to rebuild the Victorian Cottage to better utilize the space.
