Memorial Day will bring a brief pause from road work in both Caldwell and Lyon counties, but the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says maintenance will ramp up again after the holiday.
From Tuesday, May 26, through Friday, May 29, crews will handle mowing, shoulder repairs, and tree-trimming on Kentucky Highway 672, between mile markers 10 and 14.3. Officials say motorists should expect delays, alternating lane closures, and flaggers in these work zones.
Additional mowing and repairs are also planned throughout the week for U.S. 62, KY 514, KY 91, KY 1875, and KY 128.
Meanwhile, in Lyon County, if you are heading east on I-24, state transportation officials have restricted traffic to a single lane near Exit 45 by Kentucky Route 293. Crews have shifted all traffic into a head-to-head pattern in the eastbound lanes using a newly built crossover.
The work zone stretches 5 miles, and the speed limit is dropped to 55 miles per hour.
This is the first phase of a major 10-mile asphalt rehabilitation project reaching from Exit 45 in Lyon County to Exit 56 in Caldwell County.
Officials say the entire project won’t be finished until November 15th… 2027.
Drivers are urged to slow down and use extra caution in all active work areas.
