Geralene Anderson, 89, of Dallas, Texas

Geralene Anderson passed away just after 5:00 a.m. on her seventieth wedding anniversary, Saturday, May 17, 2025, aged 89, in Dallas, Texas. Geralene was born on March 12, 1936, in Blackford, Kentucky, the last of Herbert and Nancy Ann Cavanah Scott’s five children. She graduated from Butler High School in 1954 as salutatorian of her class. In her senior year, she was elected football homecoming queen and from that point earned the nickname “Queenie.” To her family, she was known lovingly as “Jug.”

At Butler, she met her lifelong partner and husband,d James Calvert (Jimmy) Anderson, and they were married in 1955. After Jimmy’s tour with the United States Army, the couple settled in Princeton, eventually establishing an appliance repair business and, in 1966, giving birth to their only child, Christopher. Geralene and Jimmy became committed members of Ogden United Methodist Church, active in the youth program and in other capacities.

Geralene was a dedicated wife and mother, and an absolutely fierce housekeeper: a speck of dust would not dare touch down in her house. To her son, she gifted every ounce of her love and a characteristic appreciation for independent thinking. In her later years, the principal source of her pride was her granddaughter Erica, with whom she developed a particularly close relationship. After Jimmy’s death in 2019, and as her dementia advanced, Geralene moved to Dallas to be near her son and his family. She bore the effects of a pernicious disease with grace and even humor. She will be missed immeasurably.

Geralene was preceded in death by her husband and parents, as well as all her siblings: C.W. Scott, Milladean Scott Hill, Dorothy Scott Martin, and Herbert Lee Scott. She is survived by her son Christopher and daughter-in-law Lisa, their daughter Erica, and the family dog Dixie, all of Richardson, Texas. Also surviving are her brother-in-law, Rocky Anderson of Princeton, and several nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, and grand-nieces.

“Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing.” (2 Timothy 4:8)

Visitation will be held from 12:30 pm until 2:30 pm on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at Morgan’s Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, May 25, 2025, at Creekmur Cemetery with Rev. Shelley Caulder officiating.
