
Officials with Hopkins County Schools have announced Dr. Tim Roy has been selected as the new director of secondary instruction.
Roy most recently served as principal at Caldwell County Middle School and has previously held administrative positions in Hopkins County Schools.
According to school officials, Roy brings 30 years of experience in education, including 20 years as a middle and high school administrator. He has been principal at James Madison Middle School, assistant principal at Hopkins County Central High School, and has also served as an administrator in Webster and Daviess counties.
In a written statement, Dr. Roy expressed gratitude to Dr. Fleming and the hiring committee for their trust in him. He said he looks forward to rejoining the leadership team, reconnecting with the dedicated staff in secondary schools and throughout the district, and offering his support in any way he can.
Dr. Roy earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Secondary English Education from the University of Kentucky. He completed his graduate studies at Murray State University, where he received Master’s Degree in Secondary Education and School Administration, along with endorsements in school safety, pupil personnel, and school superintendent roles. He also holds a Doctorate Degree in P-20 and Community Leadership from Murray State University.
Locally, school officials said Roy has chaired Webster County’s Work Ready Communities initiative, volunteered on the board of the Hopkins County Dropout Prevention Council, served as a deacon and worship leader at his church, and coached travel softball teams. At the state level, he has served as a board member and president of the Kentucky Association of School Councils and has conducted school safety assessments on behalf of the Kentucky Center for School Safety.
Incoming Superintendent Dr. Damon Fleming said in a written statement that Dr. Roy offers extensive leadership experience and a proven track record of supporting students and staff. He further stated that Dr. Roy’s dedication to academic excellence, student-focused practices, and creating safe, inclusive learning environments will be a valuable asset as they work together to move the district forward.
