Homeowners and renters in Caldwell County who were impacted by the severe storms in mid-May can now apply for federal assistance.
Last month, Governor Andy Beshear announced that President Donald Trump approved his request for Individual Assistance, making federal aid available to six counties, including Caldwell County, affected by the May 16th and 17th storms.
FEMA Public Affairs Specialist Kimberly Keblish explains that federal aid is intended to help those who are uninsured or underinsured.

click to download audioShe said Caldwell Countians can also visit the locations in Hopkins County at the Hopkins County Fair Ground at 605 East Arch Street in Madisonville, as well as in Christian County at the Murray State University Classroom 209, located at 5305 Fort Campbell Boulevard in Hopkinsville.
After applying for assistance, Keblish points out there are a few important things to watch for, including a call from FEMA to schedule a home inspection, which could come from an out-of-state or unfamiliar number within about ten days of submitting your application.

Keblish also recommends that the FEMA Hotline is a great resource throughout your application process for answering questions, checking application status, or getting assistance with paperwork.
