Willard “Wayne” Henderson, 80, of Eddyville, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
He was born on June 14, 1945, in Lyon County to his late parents, Henry Willard Henderson and Anne P’Pool Gray. Wayne’s career in manufacturing management began at Arvin Industries in Princeton, where he devoted over 25 years of service. His professional path led him to Superior Fireplace in Union City, Tennessee, and ultimately to CC Metals and Alloys in Calvert City while also owning M W Wholesale, a vending business he operated and privately contracted with the state at the West Kentucky Correctional Complex.
Wayne had a magnetic spirit whose warmth and kindness drew others to him wherever he went. He was a faithful member of his church, Bible Missionary Baptist Church. He poured his heart into serving others-especially young people, whom he mentored with generosity, wisdom, and unwavering support. His selfless spirit left a lasting impact on everyone around him.
Wayne’s community engagement was evident through his active involvement as a former City Councilman in Eddyville and brief tenure as Eddyville Mayor Pro Tem. Beyond his professional life and civic duties, Wayne was a fervent fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball team. He also enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden.
He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie (Bart) Griffith of Eddyville; brother, Mike Henderson of Eddyville; grandson, Zack (Ava) Griffith of Clarksville; great-granddaughter, Willow Morgan-Griffith; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Ann Fowler Henderson; son, Michael Wayne Henderson; sister, Betty Lou Henderson; brother, Bill Henderson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Lakeland Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Taylor and Bro. Don Houston officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Spring Church Cemetery in Caldwell County.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Lakeland Funeral Home.
