Families in Lyon County will soon see big improvements at the Lee S. Jones Park playground, thanks to a grant awarded to the Fiscal Court for an upgraded, safer play space.
County officials said they have secured an $86,800 Crumb Rubber and Tire-Derived Products Grant. They said the project includes removing the existing wood mulch and black border, and installing a new poured-in-place crumb rubber surface to create a safer, cleaner, and more accessible playground for children.
Officials added that the playground will be closed for several weeks while the upgrades are underway. They ask everyone to stay off the playground and not disturb the construction fencing during this period.
