
Kentucky State Police say no threat was discovered at Lyon County Schools after an investigation into a call received early Friday afternoon by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
State Police say they were notified just before 12:25 p.m. Friday by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office about a threat their office received via phone, indicating a person was at the Lyon County High School armed with a gun. All Lyon County schools were immediately locked down, with multiple law enforcement agencies securing and searching the campus. Police say searches also included the use of a KSP explosives detection K9.
Police report no active threats were found, and students were safely transported off campus, pursuant to school policy, and reunited with their families.
The investigation is ongoing as Kentucky State Police Post 1 troopers and detectives continue working to determine the source of the threat.
State Police received assistance from the following agencies: Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Eddyville Police Department, Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Law Enforcement, US Department of Agriculture Forest Service Law Enforcement, Trigg County Sheriff’s Office, Lyon County EMS, Livingston County EMS, Caldwell County EMS, AirEvac, Eddyville Fire Department, and Kuttawa Fire Department.
