Willie “Bill” Butler, age 87 of Eddyville, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at his home.
He was born September 1, 1938, to the late William M. Butler and Laura Louise Shaffer Butler. He was a retired production manager at Jasper American.
Bill’s happiest days were spent at the lake, where he found joy in the simple pleasures of life-casting a line at dawn, teaching his daughters to water ski, and laughing with his grandchildren as they played by the water’s edge.
He will be remembered for his easy smile, generous heart, and the countless memories he created with those he loved most. Bill’s legacy lives on in the laughter shared at the lake and in the love of his family, who will forever cherish the moments they spent together in his favorite place.
Survivors include his adored wife of 68 years, Bonnie Faye Atherton Butler; two daughters, Laurie A. Gibson (Arnold, Jr.) of Henderson, Christal “Chris” B. Cates (Frank) of Eddyville; one sister, Doris Overby of Denver, NC; three grandchildren, Katherine M. Gibson, Heather Bacon and Maci Cates; his pride and joy great grandchildren, Kaedence, Brooks, Jace and Mac.
Visitation for Mr. Butler will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 pm at Lakeland Funeral Home in Eddyville.
A private graveside service will be conducted.
