More Candidates File for Caldwell County Seats

Several local candidates have officially filed their paperwork for the upcoming Caldwell County offices in the 2026 election.

Republican candidate Angela Cotton filed her paperwork on Wednesday with the Caldwell County Clerk’s Office to run for the vacant Caldwell County Jailer seat. Cotton says she is seeking the position because she wants to continue what the late jailer, Willie Harper, had envisioned.

The District 1 magistrate seat will be a contested race, as Republican candidate Casey Baker filed her paperwork on Wednesday, November 26, to run for the position. In the May primary, she will face fellow Republican candidate Bobby Joe Harper, who filed for the seat on November 10.

Republican candidate David Zachary Granstaff officially filed his paperwork on Tuesday, November 25, to run for the County Clerk seat in Caldwell County. In the May primary, He will face Republican incumbent County Clerk Jennifer Hale, who filed for re-election on November 2.

Republican incumbent Rick Tosh filed his paperwork at the Caldwell County Clerk’s Office on Friday, November 21, to seek another term as County Surveyor. Tosh previously ran unopposed in the November 2022 General Election.

The last day candidates can file is January 9th.

The 2026 Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, May 19.
