Donald “Don” Nichols, age 83, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025, at his home. He was married to the late Barbara Byrd Nichols for 55 years and was a retired United States Air Force Airman First Class veteran. Don was proud of his service and honored to have served his country.
After his military career, he retired from BellSouth following 32 years of dedicated work. He was of the Presbyterian faith and enjoyed spending his time hunting and fishing. Don could be found every day drinking coffee with his friends at the Majestic House in Princeton. He was known as someone you could always count on. Don was steady, reliable, and loyal.
Don is survived by his two sons, Rick (Crissy) Nichols of Princeton and Mike Nichols of Princeton; sister-in-law Jeannette Murray of Newburgh, Indiana. He was PapaNick to five grandchildren, Kristen Belt, Mackenzie Nichols, Kate (Jacob) Waid, Jake Nichols, and Ashby Nichols; and two great-grandchildren, Landon Belt and Asher Belt.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Byrd Nichols; his parents, Frederick Nichols II and Edith Glass Nichols; and his brothers, Phillip Wayne Nichols and Jon Owen Nichols and brother-in-law Shelly Murray.
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Morgan’s Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 7, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Morgan’s Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Horine officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Princeton.
