Organizers of the annual Fredonia Valley Christmas Parade have named Nicky Baker, a lifelong resident and farmer, as this year’s grand marshal.
They said he’s a proud 1970 graduate of Fredonia High School and has always taken a big interest in his hometown.
According to parade organizers, Baker worked alongside David Williams to lead the construction of Woodman Park and later added playground equipment. They noted he was also instrumental in reorganizing the Fredonia Riding Club and helped start the Caldwell/Lyon Cattlemen Association, which led to his induction into the state Hall of Fame.
Baker is also active in the Fredonia Heritage Society and serves as an elder at the Fredonia Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and has served in many capacities.
Baker and his wife, Gary Beth, have been married for 43 years and have two grown children. When he is not busy on the farm, organizers said Baker enjoys spending time with his six grandchildren.
The Fredonia Valley Christmas Parade is set for Friday, December 5, at 6:00 p.m., with the lineup taking place at The Hive parking lot at Fredonia First Baptist Church. This year’s parade theme is “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.”
